Prince William County residents who are seeking COVID-19 tests may want to swing by their local library next week.
Free at-home COVID-19 test kits will be provided by the county at 11 Prince William Public Libraries (PWPL) branches, according to a release from the Office of Communications. They will not be distributed at Bull Run Library.
“Testing is a critical piece in helping our community stay healthy and managing daily life during the pandemic,” Board of Supervisors (BOCS) Chair-At-Large Ann Wheeler said in a release from the Office of Communications. “We are so glad that we can offer these free kits to our residents. It is important that we do everything we can to support and help each other during this time.”
Community members may pick up the kits between 10 a.m. and Noon, Monday through Wednesday, while supplies last.
Dale City Library, 4249 Dale Boulevard in Dale City, is only offering them on Monday.
The COVID-19 tests are also going to be available from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Wednesday at these locations:

Those planning to pick up an at-home COVID-19 test kit should reach out to the library they intend to visit to check the availability.
Some sites may be giving them out through curbside pickup while others might be offering them in the facility. Library visitors should wear a mask inside.
If someone is experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, they are encouraged to have a kit picked up by another person.
Members of the public shouldn’t complete the test in the library. Those administering it may follow the directions provided and reach out to the company’s Customer Service if they have questions.
“Our vision at PWPL is to be the hub connecting people to the transforming power of information,” PWPL Director Deborah Wright explained in a release. “Sometimes information takes the form of literacy, sometimes it’s learning through free classes and programs, and sometimes it’s through providing a public service like distributing free COVID-19 test kits. We strive to be a community resource no matter what challenge is presented.”
Additional information, updates, and other distribution details can be found on the county’s website.
