Winter weather could impact your commute this afternoon.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4 a.m. tomorrow, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Between 1 and 3 inches of snow is forecasted for Washington, D.C., central and northern Virginia, and central Shenandoah Valley.
During the evening commute, the temperatures are expected to drop below freezing in most places. Roads may be slick.
Crew members from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) are prepared for the inclement weather, according to a release from VDOT.
The roads were pretreated on Thursday. Around midday today, about 2,400 trucks are going to start being sent out for any necessary pretreating.
Motorists are encouraged to plan their travels, so they can avoid driving in the storm and provide space for VDOT crews.
