UPDATE: C.O.R.E’s event was a big success, and the studio was able to meet their goal of $1,000 raised for the American Cancer Society.
C.O.R.E Personal Training and Pilates Studio is hosting an Open House in Woodbridge to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
“The kind of clients that we cater to are those individuals that are looking for more of a private environment – they’re intimidated by the large classes, they’re intimidated by the large gyms – and they want more personalized attention,” said C.O.R.E owner Ruth Gordon.
According to Gordon, what helps the studio stand out is how they support their members.
“We have a lot of support, whether that comes from the trainers – because we all help each other out – or it comes from the other participants,” said Gordon.
The Open House will take place on October 14 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 12720 Darbybrook Court.
During the event there will be free classes, activities, and food, as well as a raffle and giveaways.
All of the funds raised will be used for the studio’s Relay for Life team. C.O.R.E has been raising money for the American Cancer Society for eight years, raising around $50,000 thus far.
“That money goes into local programs for those people that are either caregivers, or need support systems, you know, people who are struggling with cancer and all that,” said Gordon.
Gordon shared that the studio got started with raising money for the American Cancer Society because of the many people in their lives that have been impacted by cancer.
