The Johnston Family loves Christmas.
According to Loren Johnston, this is what motivates their family to put on their holiday light display every year.
Located in Dale City on Evansdale Road, the Johnston’s light display has been a fixture in the community for three years.
“We get a lot of visitors – a lot of people come by at night,” said Johnston.
The display has lights, ornaments, decorations and inflatables. Johnston said that in honor of the movie release they have a Star Wars section this year, as well as decorations from the ‘Island of Misfit Toys’ from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.
Each year the Johnstons enter their home in Thompson Creek’s ‘Holiday House Proud’ competition. Last year their home was in the top three, according to Johnson.
But this competition could be more than just recognition for a holiday light display. It could be a way to help homeless in the community. According to Johnston, if their light display wins, they will donate all of the prize money.
“If we win that, we’ll donate the money to Woodbridge Homeless Outreach,” said Johnston.
