A lane closure is affecting local commuters.
The left turn lane on Annapolis Way to Route 1 in Woodbridge is closing at around Noon on Wednesday.
Crews are building a new median, a project that may take six weeks to complete, according to a release from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
Its construction is one part of the widening of Route 1.
A shared-use path, a sidewalk and a new bridge at Marumsco Creek will be installed as part of the road work, which is expected to cost about $165 million.
Additional lanes are being added between between Marys Way and Annapolis Way, as well.
Officials plan to wrap up the Route 1 widening project in fall 2020.
