Employees at the Ikea store in Woodbridge worked together to create 100 care packages for people in need.
On April 21, as part of the Red Cross’ annual ‘Giving Day’, the 15 employees at the Woodbridge store joined other Ikeas around the United States in this effort, according to spokeswoman Terra Deleon.
According to Deleon, 4,300 care packages were created for the Red Cross nationwide by Ikea this year.
“Each [Ikea] store here in the U.S. is working with their local Red Cross location. And each store put together 100 care packages,” said Deleon.
This is the second year that Ikea has partnered with the Red Cross, according to Deleon.
The care packages each included an Ikea bag with a wash cloth set, a towel set, a sheet set, and two pillows, according to Deleon. 50 of the 100 bags also included a soft toy for children, said Deleon.
“[The Red Cross] will disperse them as there’s a need within the community,” said Deleon.
