Women gathered in Woodbridge for the Prince William Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Leadership Conference this week.
The conference kicked off with an opening session from Dr. Laura Gallo, a doctor with Sentara Internal Medicine Physicians, speaking about eating well and having a healthy balance in your life.
“Only you can take the steps necessary to ensure your good health. As physicians we’re here to help, but we’re only with you for maybe 15 to 30 minutes every couple of months or maybe even every year,” said Gallo.
During the conference, there were break-out sessions with topics focusing on leadership, empowerment, and overcoming failures.
“We seem someone we perceive to be more successful and if you really knew their story, you may look at them with a whole different lense,” said Dr. Sabrina Brandon Ricks, a professor at Northern Virginia Community College.
The conference’s keynote speaker Dr. Beth Cabrera spoke about the science surrounding well-being and happiness.
“When people are experiencing positive moods, they’re much more self-confident…you’re gonna set higher goals when you’re positive…positive people are significantly more resilient,” said Cabrera.
