Community members could be catching glimpses of snowfall tonight and Wednesday morning.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is calling for rain and snow.
Less than 1 inch of snow is expected to fall in the Washington, D.C., area by 1 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
VDOT crew members will start making preparations for the wintry mix this evening, according to an email from VDOT.
Motorists are reminded to watch the weather and check their route before traveling.
They should also keep an eye out for slippery areas and give enough distance between themselves and other vehicles.
