Two What’s Up Prince William (WUPW.news) videos have received awards.
Last week, the Virginia Press Association (VPA) recognized the news site for the fourth year in a row.
It placed second in the video category for “‘Neighbors helping out neighbors’: Volunteer fire departments aid in emergencies.” You can watch the video on our YouTube channel.
We also won first place in the category for our “Food rescue program: How to get involved” video.
“The two videos that were recognized this year focus on local non-profits,” Editor Erin Flynn said. “WUPW.news seeks to promote these organizations and others that are doing good things in the community. We look forward to continuing to highlight them.”
WUPW.news was also awarded in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
Two auto repair shops in Woodbridge – HomeTowne Auto Repair & Tire and Steve’s Auto Repair & Tire – help fund the media site, which provides free coverage and event promotion for non-profits.
Last year, WUPW.news provided more than $46,000 worth of coverage to at least 20 non-profits.
