A virtual fundraiser is returning next month.
From May 1 through May 31, BEACON for English Language and Literacy is holding its 3rd Annual Virtual Walkathon.
Walkers, runners and bikers can participate at their convenience and for a distance of their choosing. To tag BEACON in social media photos and videos, use #BEACONWalkathon.

Individuals may register on the BEACON’s website for $20. Proceeds from the Virtual Walkathon will support BEACON, according to a release from the organization.
Based out of Bristow, the non-profit helps local adults learn English, get ready for the Citizenship exam, and work on job skills. It serves Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park residents.
“Our amazing students come from many different backgrounds and varying education levels. We are in awe of their perseverance and dedication to learning to meet their personal and professional goals”, BEACON Executive Director Jennifer Katak said in a release. “Please join me in supporting BEACON so that we are able to continue to meet the needs of the adult learners in our community.”
BEACON is accepting donations, and sponsorship opportunities are available. Those interested in becoming a sponsor may pay through the BEACON website, or mail a check and the sponsorship form to: Development Office, 9535 Linton Hall Rd. Bristow, VA 20136.
