Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) staff stopped by Micron Technology in Manassas yesterday to provide them with a certification for their veteran hiring efforts.
Micron received the department’s Virginia Values Veterans (V3) employer certification for their commitment to recruit and hire veterans, according to DVS spokesman Jeb Hockman.
Micron specializes in memory and semiconductor technology, according to their website.
The V3 program, administered by DVS, works with businesses in Virginia to help them to “recruit, hire, train, and retain Veterans, but also to help those committed companies meet their hiring goals,” according to the V3 program website.
“As one of the world’s leading semi-conductor companies, Micron relies on the talent and competitive drive of its team members to win, in an extremely competitive industry…we actively seek candidates with military experience who bring strong technical skills and discipline to a career with Micron,” said Micron Site Director Tim O’Brien.
During the ceremony, Virginia Secretary of Veterans and Defense Affairs John Harvey spoke about how Micron’s attitude toward hiring veterans has helped them to succeed.
“We’re here to celebrate, we’re here to thank Micron,” said Harvey, before presenting Micron representatives with the V3 certificate.
