Three veterans are joining a local non-profit’s Board of Directors and Advisory Council.
Northern Virginia (NOVA) Veterans Association has named Kerry Kirk the newest board member, Rich Anderson the Veterans Affairs Advisor and Jeffrey Sapp the Non-profit Advisor.
The NOVA Veterans Association, a Manassas-based organization, provides resources to veterans and military families, including housing and healthcare.
Here is more information about the new team members, according to a release:
- Kerry Kirk: Kerry D. Kirk, a managing director at Cambridge Associates, LLC, graduated from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) and the University of Virginia (UVA) Darden Graduate School of Business. The former Marine Corps Captain served between 1985 and 1993. He was deployed to the Caribbean, Europe, the Far East, the Mediterranean, the Middle East, and Scandinavia.
- Rich Anderson: Rich L. Anderson, a Roanoke native, graduated from Virginia Tech in 1979. Anderson served in the United States Air Force (USAF) for 30 years before he retired as a colonel in 2009. He also acted as Titan II intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), a combat crew commander, and a Minuteman II ICBM squadron operations officer.
- Jeffrey Sapp: Jeffrey K. Sapp, a business and leadership consultant, served in the United States Navy for 30 years. He served as the Commanding Officer of six ships as well as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Unit at Southern University and A&M College. Sapp, who attended the U.S. Naval Academy in Maryland, was the first African-American football player from Navy to become a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division One All-American.
