The Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) is holding a public meeting tonight in the area to discuss several SMART SCALE projects.
According to the Virginia Smart Scale website, the SMART SCALE program is about “investing limited tax dollars in the right projects that meet the most critical transportation needs in Virginia.”
The CTB has approved 147 projects totaling $1.02 billion as part of SMART SCALE.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) stated that the meetings are being held to discuss changes to how Virginia is prioritizing the SMART SCALE projects as part of their six-year improvement program.
Tonight’s area meeting begins at 4 p.m. at the VDOT NOVA District Office’s Potomac Room at 4975 Alliance Drive in Fairfax.
More on the meeting, from VDOT:
The public is invited to get the latest information, ask questions and provide input on various transportation initiatives. This year’s meetings will consist of an open house where representatives from the Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment, Departments of Transportation and Rail and Public Transportation, along with Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Planning District Commissions, and Transit organizations will be in attendance to highlight their transportation programs and to discuss attendees’ ideas and concerns on Virginia’s transportation network. Following the open house, a town hall session will engage public and transportation stakeholders in discussion and provide an opportunity to ask questions about Virginia’s transportation projects and programs.
