Volunteers from The Good News Community Kitchen (TGNCK) and Treeline Ministries (TM) came together at Veterans Memorial Park in Woodbridge for a fun water gun fight.
Both organizations provide services, meals, supplies, and programs to the unsheltered homeless in Prince William County, and decided to have a friendly competition between TGNCK and TM with a community celebration and water gun fight.
“So we’re out here to do this water gun fight, and to partner together to really have a bigger impact in the community,” said TM Director Matt Maddalena.
When asked about who the winner would be for the water gun fight, TGNCK Executive Director Mercedes Kirkland-Doyle responded, “I think overall Prince William County is gonna be the overall winner, because you have two great organizations coming together to serve one purpose. And any way you can have community togetherness and unite various people from various backgrounds, I think the community wins.”
In traditional duel-style, Maddalena and Kirkland-Doyle kicked off the match with Super Soaker water guns, with the hopes of winning bragging rights.
While neither conceded when it came time to determine the winner, fun was had by all, and the two launched a surprise soak attack on other party attendees.
