An additional right turn lane at Route 1 and Route 610 in Stafford is now open.
According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the $800,000 project to add the turn lane was done to reduce congestion and delays for drivers in the afternoon.
“The intersection of Route 1 and Garrisonville Road was identified as the highest volume intersection in Stafford County in September 2014,” stated a release.
The project, which was administered by Stafford County, involved replacing traffic signal equipment at the intersection to go along with the new traffic pattern, according to a release.
