Roue 1 drivers may want to give themselves some extra time for their Friday and Monday commute.
According to a release from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), traffic on the highway will shift onto new pavement.
Starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, northbound lanes located between Mount Pleasant Drive and Dawson Beach Road in Woodbridge will change.
Southbound lanes from Occoquan Road to Marys Way will be adjusted at 10 a.m. on Monday.
The shifts are weather permitting and are part of the $100 million Route 1 widening project that is expected to be completed in fall 2019.
The Prince William County Department of Transportation is managing the project, which aims to ease traffic congestion along the highway.
