Officials are providing information on opioids at a town hall meeting.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports opioids are a class of drugs to reduce pain. Prescription opioids are commonly prescribed for moderate to severe pain, after surgery or injury, or pain from health conditions.
The meeting will be on Saturday June 8 at 11a.m. at Ferlazzo Government Building, 15491 Donald Curtis Drive in Woodbridge, to address how the opioid epidemic is affecting the county and state.
This event is open to the public. According to a release by Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS), a large array of guest speakers will be in attendance.
Congressman Gerry Connolly is hosting the town hall. In addition, Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue (PWCDFR) and Prince William County Joint Opioid Task Force will be on the panel of experts.
The panel will be discussing prevention, dangers of opioids, and how to assist someone who needs help.
