Preparations for Thanksgiving dinner will be carried out over the next few weeks.
Chefs can gain some ideas and learn new tips by taking part in a Tournament of Turkeys.
Pitkins Dale City Hardware and Pitkins Woodbine Hardware in Manassas are still hosting the annual event.
But this year, there’s a twist.
Rather than offering the event in person, the businesses will have it online. There is also a fundraising component.
Funds for three local non-profits – Action in Community Through Service (ACTS), the Prince William County Boys & Girls Clubs, and The Arc of Greater Prince William – are being collected, according to Pitkins Ace Hardware Co-Owner Sarah Pitkin.
Between November 15 and November 27, the public may sign up for one of the organizations.
Participants will receive a t-shirt as well as grilling tips and recipes.
“You’ll be able to see our recipes and ask us any questions,” Pitkin explained. “We have an email available for you to ask any questions, and we’ll give you some good turkey tips and some sides tips.”
Raffle tickets are also available for purchase, with the winners receiving a grill of their choosing – a Weber Genesis II E-330, a Traeger Pro575, or a Large Big Green Egg.
The Tournament of Turkeys will wrap up with a virtual Thanksgiving Day toast, where attendees can show their support for the non-profits and the raffle winners will be announced.
Registration is offered on RunSignup. Questions about the event may be emailed to thanksgivingpwc@gmail.com.
