Later this month, various military tanks will be on the move.
The Tank Farm Open House is around the corner, slated for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 24 and September 25.
Each year, the Americans in Wartime Experience hosts the event at the Tank Farm, which is located at 13906 Aden Road.
Registration for the open house is available on the Americans in Wartime Experience’s website. There is a suggested donation of $5 for children between 5 and 10 years old, and $10 for those 11 years old and older. Membership opportunities are also available.
The event will feature more than 50 military vehicles. Sherman tanks, half tracks, Stuart tanks, and a Hellcat tank destroyer are among those expected to be there.
In addition to checking out tanks, participants will see K9 and flame thrower demonstrations, and living history reenactments.
Food trucks, activities for kids and veteran interviews are going to be offered, as well.
The Americans in Wartime Experience is currently building five Landscapes of War and an Education Center in Dale City.
Through its annual Tank Farm Open House, the non-profit seeks to educate the public about history.
