Prince William County officials use the Strategic Plan when establishing the budget.
Work on 2021-2024 plan began earlier this year. A few adjustments are being made to the development process.
An updated timeline has been approved by the Board of County Supervisors (BOCS), according to a release from Prince William County.
The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) will be seeking feedback through online efforts, according to Director Dave Sinclair.
“The largest adjustment is that we are proposing developing the plan in a virtual environment,” Sinclair told the BOCS. “This is for the safety of the strategic plan development team members, your appointees and staff members, as well as members of the community at large.”
The main goal is to engage with the public, which will be done through an online survey, virtual community conversations, and virtual forum.
In September, the BOCS is hosting a work session about the plan.
Three months are being set aside to gather input.
The plan is expected to be adopted in February 2021, according to Strategic Plan Coordinator Kaye Wallace.
“Once the Board adopts the plan, that adopted strategic plan would be available to assist the Board with deliberations during the Fiscal 2022 budget process in March and April,” Wallace said in a release.
