Children are being introduced to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in Dumfries.
Various activities are being offered at the General Heiser Boys & Girls Club.
For the past couple of weeks, the club has been teaming up with Youth Technology Network (YTN), which seeks to help children learn more about STEM.
Future careers are going to be based around those subjects, according to YTN Director David Blackwell.
“That’s really what motivated us to get involved in this, but also to bring this training to communities that typically don’t get those opportunities — they don’t get the opportunities to work with some more advanced technology, they don’t get a chance to build drones, to fly drones,” Blackwell explained.
On Monday, the kids participated in virtual reality and gym activities.
“The kids are not only having fun, but … they’re learning and keeping their brains active this summer,” Branch Director Judy Moore said.
