Community members can celebrate St. Patrick’s Day weekend by bringing home a new friend.
The Prince William Humane Society is hosting “St. Pittie’s Day O’Dopt-a-thon” from March 16 to 18.
This weekend, the adoption fee for pit bulls and pit bull mixes will be $20 at the Prince William County Animal Shelter in Manassas.
The Prince William Humane Society will cover the remaining $25.
About 20 pit bulls and pit bull mixes up for adoption at the shelter.
Adoption fees for pit bulls and pit bull mixes will also be reduced by 50 percent at the Prince William Humane Society’s Adopt Shop in Dumfries.
“All of these pets are really great family-friendly pets … They’re just sweet lovable giant pets, and they’re just so wonderful,” Adopt Shop Center Manager Jill Gregory said.
Gregory encouraged community members to spend time with the dogs, even if they don’t plan to adopt.
“They’ve been cooped up in our rescue and the shelter for quite a while,” Gregory said. “So at the very least, just come and take some pictures of these guys. And help us find their home, even if it’s not with you. Share a Facebook post, or come and take a picture and share it on your social media.”
The Prince William County Animal Shelter will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Community members can stop by the Prince William Humane Society Adopt Shop between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and from Noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
