Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day? Have fun, and make sure you’re staying safe as well.
The Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) is running their St. Patrick’s Day SoberRide program starting tonight at 4 p.m., through 4 a.m. on March 18.
Instead of taxi rides, this time SoberRide is partnering with Lyft to provide free rides, worth up to a $20 fare to individuals 21 and older.
To utilize the free ride, “download Lyft to your phone, then enter the code in the app’s ‘Promo’ section,” stated a release. The free promo code is “SOBERRIDE”. The offer is available to new and existing Lyft users.
Riders are responsible for any amount over the initial $20 fare.
“WRAP’s SoberRide , called one of the nation’s most successful free ride programs for would-be impaired drivers, has helped to ensure greater Washington, DC residents have a safe way home on high-risk holidays. Since 1991, WRAP has dispatched 66,296 safe rides home. Currently, SoberRide operates during the December/January holiday season, St. Patrick’s Day, Cinco de Mayo, Independence Day and Halloween,” stated a release.
The local Sheriff’s Offices and Virginia State Police will also have sobriety checkpoints throughout Northern Virginia, so make sure if you’re drinking you’ve got a sober ride home.
