Walkers, runners and cyclists have a new way to explore Prince William County.
Officials have completed part of a shared-use path.
Located next to Route 234, the 4,300-foot trail travels from Talon Drive in Dumfries to Liberia Road in Manassas.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was recently held to mark its opening, according to a release from Prince William County.
Members of the public have begun utilizing the shared-use path, according to Supervisor Maureen Caddigan.
“I know it’s going to be used every day, and it has done my heart good to watch people … using this pathway with their carriages, with their bikes and walking,” Caddigan said in a release. “This path will be shared by runners, bikers and walkers alike. Families that want to take a stroll together and want to walk to Prince William Forest Park — which is just down the road — can be safe.”
Six street lights will be installed at various intersections near the trail — Country Club Drive, Fortuna Center Plaza, Four Seasons Drive and Talon Drive.
