According to a release, the Prince William Science Accelerator, located in Manassas, was established in 2014 to help the county establish “its position as a thriving life sciences and technology hub within the Greater Washington metro area and its momentum is poised to continue,” and offers wet lab space for growing tech companies.
Serpin Pharma will be leasing 1,141 square feet in the wet lab, stated a release. The company was started in 2011, and specializes in developing “anti-inflammatory and immune modulating peptides with potential application in inflammatory, autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and diabetes,” stated a release.
According to a release, the company has been awarded more than $500,000 in a Small Business Innovation Research grant offered by the National Institutes of Health and the Commonwealth of Virginia.
The company currently holds a parent for several anti-inflammatory peptides, according to a release.
