Manassas Regional Airport visitors have a place to watch happenings.
Matthew Bonifera and members of his Boy Scout troop made improvements at the Observation Area, which is set up at the FAA tower base on the airport’s west end.
The work, which was for Matthew’s Eagle Scout project, included building two picnic tables and painted a small runway.
Constructing a wooden airport and updating two other picnic tables were also part of the proposal he presented to airport staff and the Airport Commission last year, according to a release from the City of Manassas.
Matthew and his troop mates used donated supplies for the project, which was completed in a couple of weekends.
“We are always willing to entertain Eagle Scout projects,” Manassas Regional Airport Director Juan Rivera said in a release. “The entire community will benefit from Matthew’s project and it really was an outstanding activity to watch. You can see all of the hard work that was put into this project and we invite you to come visit.”
