School upgrades have been completed, are underway, and are planned for many facilities in the county school division.
Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS) Superintendent LaTanya McDade shared details about completed, current and future projects in a recent letter to families, employees and the community.
Completed projects
Here are improvements that have been finished and work that is underway at local schools:
- Gainesville Middle School received 11 more classrooms
- Six classrooms were added at Reagan Middle School in Haymarket
- Updates have been finished at Bennett Elementary School in Manassas
- Neabsco Elementary School in Dale City, Battlefield High School in Haymarket, and Freedom High School in Woodbridge had their roofs replaced
- Work is done on the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) of Battlefield High School, Potomac High School in Dumfries, Pattie Elementary School in Montclair, West Gate Elementary School in Manassas, and Ellis Elementary School in Bull Run
Current projects
This is the work that’s underway:
- Officials are in the final stages of the HVAC projects at Brentsville District High School in Nokesville, Graham Park Middle School in Triangle, and Unity Braxton Middle School in Sudley
Future projects
These are the updates scheduled for county schools:
- During summer 2023, upgrades are expected to be done at Hylton High School in Woodbridge, Parkside Middle School in Manassas, Signal Hill Elementary School in Manassas, and Bristow Run Elementary School
- The replacing of roofs at Forest Park High School in Woodbridge and Osbourn Park High School in Manassas are set to be finished in summer 2023
This year, the county school system will be opening a new elementary school. Currently referred to as “Rosemount Lewis Elementary School,” it will receive its official name in spring 2023.
A naming committee will be set up following the School Board’s vote about proposed school boundary changes.
