Salvation Army of Prince William County volunteers gathered at a warehouse space in Woodbridge, collecting and organizing donations from the community.
The donations are part of the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, where members of the community select gift tags with items listed on it, which they purchase and return to the collection warehouse.
All of the children that participate in Angel Tree are vetted, and come from families in need.

According to the area Salvation Army’s new figurehead, Lt. Miguel Ramos, organization volunteers are also out ringing bells for the annual Red Kettle campaign, which raises funds for the work they do in the community.
“The Salvation Army Angel Tree program is about 40 years old, and folks of our community – it has angels, that we put out – we put them out on a tree. And people and businesses adopt them and got out and purchase gifts for that specific child,” said Ramos.
For Ramos, the success of this year’s Angel Tree says something about the Prince William County community.
“It is an amazing program of the Salvation Army…it’s coming alongside folks that are really stretched too thin, and we come together as a community to meet the needs of those who are less fortunate,” said Ramos.
