Those shopping for school supplies can save money next month.
The Virginia Sales Tax Holiday is slated for the first weekend in August.
From 12:01 a.m. on August 3 to 11:59 p.m. on August 5, shoppers won’t have to pay sales tax on certain items, including some school supplies, clothing and footwear, according to the sales tax website.
To qualify, school supplies must be $20 or less for each item. Clothing and footwear must be $100 or less per item.
Hurricane and emergency preparedness products, and Energy Star and WaterSense items are also eligible.
Qualified emergency items include portable generators that are $1,000 or less, gas-powered chainsaws that are $350 or less, and chainsaw accessories that are $60 or less.
Energy Star and WaterSense products that are used for personal or home use must be $2,500 to be eligible.
