In a few days, trick-or-treaters will head to neighborhoods to search for sweets.
A local law enforcement agency has a few suggestions.
Children are encouraged to wear light colored clothing and reflective tape, and walk in groups, according to a release from the Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD).
PWCPD also suggests that younger kids have a parent or adult present.
Treats that are collected throughout the night should be checked in a well-lit area when children return home.
Those who need assistance may contact the police at its non-emergency line — 703-792-6500 — or call 911 if there’s an emergency.
