The “Safe Passage Home” community and police forum was held over the weekend in Dumfries.
Hosted by Woodbridge resident Earl Barrett and retired members of law enforcement, community members and area law enforcement officials met at the Dumfries-Triangle Fire and Rescue Station on Graham Park Road.
During the event, around 30 individuals took part in a discussion about how to appropriately and safely interact with law enforcement in a variety of situations.
Over the course of the discussion, several topics were raised including, making sure that your hands are visible at all times when dealing with an officer, working together to reach out to children in the community, and how to communicate effectively when speaking with a law enforcement officer.
This forum was part of several area community and law enforcement discussions that have taken place in Prince William County in recent months.
