Litter is accumulating in public areas and on the side of the road.
A local non-profit will address this problem in an upcoming event.
On April 24, Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB) and Woodbridge District Supervisor Margaret Franklin are hosting a Route 1 cleanup.
Running from 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., it is taking place in recognition of Earth Day, according to a release from KPWB.
Close-toed shoes, pants, and long sleeves are recommended. Attendees should also wear masks and practice social distancing.
Gloves, garbage bags, litter pickers and safety vests will be available. JUSTWater is providing water and snacks.
Anyone who would like to register for the Woodbridge event or learn additional details can visit the KPWB website or email Environmental Programs Manager Sean Morrow at smorrow@kpwb.org.
Items will also be collected during the Route 1 cleanup, including unused clothes, bedding and small appliances. Contact KPWB to receive a list of acceptable donations.
