The National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) has recognized the leader of a Dale City school.
Sue Danielson, principal of Rosa Parks Elementary School in Dale City, won the 2020 NAESP National Distinguished Principal Award for Virginia, according to a release from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS).
“I am both humbled and honored to represent the principals of Virginia as we embark into these uncharted waters of education,” Danielson said in a release. “Educators across our state will continue to put the social and emotional wellbeing and learning of our children first. Together we are stronger!”
Award recipients should lead schools that have connections with community members and businesses as well as programs that fulfill its students’ academic and social needs, according to the NAESP.
“I’m very proud for Sue,” Associate Superintendent for Central Elementary Schools Todd Erickson said in a release. “She has developed an outstanding culture at her school that focuses on collaboration and high expectations for teaching and learning.
During her 40 year career in education, Danielson has served as Rosa Parks Elementary School’s principal, an assistant principal, a teacher and a school counselor.
Principals from PWCS have received the award four of the last five years.
