County residents can help support the environment this year.
Keep Prince William Beautiful (KPWB) is running a Raise the Bar campaign through December 31.
It seeks to address litter that has increased in shared areas.
“Our goal with this campaign is to get people out there, picking up litter and also introducing other sustainable activities in their lives, such as planting gardens or putting up a compost teep in their backyard,” KPWB Executive Director Aleta Daniels explained.
Established in the late ‘80s, KPWB is a non-profit that became a Keep America Beautiful affiliate in 2012.
“We are a community partner with the Prince William County government and we extend their outreach, and education, and activities around litter and recycling throughout Prince William County.”
Campaign participants have a chance to win monthly prizes.
They can enter into the drawing by completing various activities, such as KPWB’s community litter cleanups, or hosting one with their family or a group.
Becoming an Adopt-A-Spot sponsor or tagging KPWB on social media are other ideas.

“Together, let’s raise the bar on sustainability in Prince William County and the Northern Virginia region,” Daniels said.
