Two Quantico firefighters were honored for saving a drowning man at the Quantico Triathlon last month.
According to a release, Sergeant Steven Denton and Firefighter Thomas Seablom saved 83-year old Thomas Tobias, who was drowning in the Potomac River during his participation in the triathlon, which took place on August 20.
This year’s Quantico Triathalon including a 750 meter open swim in the Potomac River, a 12.4 mile bicycle tour, and a 5K run, according to the event’s website.
Security Battalion Marines at the Quantico Marine Corps Base held a ceremony today following the battlion’s monthly formation, to recognize Denton and Seablom for their service, according to a release.
Marine Corps Base Quantico Provost Marshal Major Kristopher Knobel and Fire Chief Bruce Sullivan handed out commendations to Denton and Seablom during the ceremony, stated a release.
