Prince William County’s School Board is offering a unique experience for rising juniors and seniors.
The board is on the lookout for its next student representative and two alternates who will offer input during the 2018-19 school year, according to a release.
Hylton High School senior Kate Arnold is the current student representative.
Selected students must attend School Board meetings, share suggestions and concerns with board members, and inform students of decisions the board makes.
They should also demonstrate leadership skills and be open-minded to different viewpoints.
Applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. on March 12. Students can fill out the forms online, drop them off at their school’s Social Studies Department Chairperson, or submit them by mail or in person to the Kelly Leadership Center in Manassas.
Students who mail the applications to the Kelly Leadership Center should include “Attn: Mollie Rosenburg” on the envelope.
Finalists must complete an essay that will be administered on April 6.
Applicants will attend an interview, which will take place between April 16 and 23.
Candidates are required to submit a completed parent consent form, as well.
The new student representative will be introduced to the School Board by June.
