Plans for the upcoming school year have yet to be decided.
Requirements about schools safely reopening are expected to be shared by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) and the Virginia State Superintendent in a month, according to a release from Prince William County Public Schools (PWCS).
In the meantime, PWCS is keeping different options in mind.
The school division is planning to open on August 25. It’s also creating a Return to New Learning plan.
The plan, which representative parents will look over, offers various circumstances — in-person learning, in-person and distance learning, and distance learning.
It also has two plans. They are: Late Spring and Summer Preparation for the Return to New Learning and different options for the Return to New Learning 2020-21.
Creating a Virtual Schoolhouse through Canvas, a learning management system (LMS), is the focus of the Late Spring and Summer Preparation for the Return to New Learning road map.
PWCS is also trying to secure additional laptops when the fiscal year begins, in case virtual learning is required.
More information is going to be provided when plans are decided.
