The Potomac Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC) held its 30th anniversary celebration in Woodbridge over the weekend.
In spite of the rainy, several residents participated in the festivities which included jugglers, face painting, balloon artists, a petting zoo, and food trucks.
PRTC was started back in 1986, with the primary goal being to “establish the Virginia Railway Express, or VRE,” stated PRTC’s website.
Starting in 1991, “PRTC took responsibility for the OmniRide Bus Service in Prince William County. By that fall of that year, daily ridership exceeded 2,500,” stated PRTC’s website.
The fleet PRTC runs now includes more than 160 businesses, and has an average daily ridership of 11,200, according to a release.
