Children are receiving a special gift — the ability to use both hands.
Garrett Hornauer from Boy Scout Troop 43 in Manassas is using his Eagle Scout project to help others.
He assembled 20 prosthetic hands that were created through 3D printing.
“The point behind the project was to provide children, who are missing their hand, an inexpensive prosthetic,” Garrett wrote in an email to What’s Up Prince William.
Coles Elementary School in Manassas provided the materials. Kindergarten Teacher Ramona Richardson showed Garrett how to assemble the prosthetic hands, which he did at River of Grace Lutheran Church in Manassas.
Garrett also received help from his adviser, his troop and his family.
