Project Mend-A-House was able to help another Prince William resident in need by completing house repairs.
According to a release, the organization was able to assist Ms. Anderson, a client the organization has had since 2014, who currently battles several health issues including epilepsy, fibromyalgia, diabetes, depression, and sleep apnea.
“After her husband passed in 2000, she has been unable to keep up with the continuous demands of home maintenance. With her health issues, little things turned into major repairs, and in an effort to remain safely and independently in her own home, she sought the help of Project Mend-A-House,” stated a release.
This initial round of repairs from Project Mend-A-House made the house more livable, but there were still issues in the home that the non-profit was now able to address.
“The heat pump no longer worked, leaving her without cool air in the summer and very little heat in the winter. This winter will be different. Her new AC Unit was installed this week in a partnership with Manassas-based Pride Air Conditioning, who performed the installation free of charge, and is covering their work with a one-year labor warranty,” stated a release.
Project Mend-A-House relies on volunteers and donations from local businesses like Pride Air Conditioning & Heating to help their clients stay in their homes.
“We’re grateful to Project Mend-A-House for enabling us to give back to the community in this way. Being able to keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer, and to enjoy good indoor air quality, everybody should have that. Having a properly functioning HVAC system goes beyond comfort, it plays a big role in your health, too,” stated Pride Air Conditioning & Heating Owner Fred McCollum in a release.
