Last night, Project Mend-A-House celebrated at their 16th annual Taste of the Town event in Dale City.
The event was packed with more than 300 area residents at VFW Post 1503 at 14631 Minnieville Road.
During the ceremony, several individuals were honored for their work, and the community celebrated Project Mend-A-House’s accomplishments over the past year.
This year the Lily Blackwell Lifetime Community Service Award was given to Sharon Pandak.
Project Mend-A-House has been providing home repairs, safety fixtures, and health and wellness programs to Prince William’s low-income, disabled, and elderly residents for more than 30 years.
In fiscal year 2016, the organization completed almost 700 home repairs and safety tasks. They’ve been able to help more than 150 low-income Prince William residents, and volunteers have donated more than 5,000 hours of their time to help complete projects.
