Prince William school meals will rise in cost by 5 cents.
According to a release, the meal price increase is due to “ederal directives related to the amounts school divisions are reimbursed by the federal free and reduced price lunch program.”
Prince William County Public Schools staff serve around 20,000 breakfasts and 55,000 lunches each day to students.
The following are the new lunch prices:
Breakfast
Student: $1.50
Adult: 2.50
Lunch
Student: $2.50 Elementary School
Student: $2.65 Middle School
Student: $2.75 High School
Adult: $3.45

“School program will continue, with meals featuring locally grown produce whenever possible. In September, cafeterias will serve Virginia-grown apples, cabbage, cantaloupe, corn, kale, Bibb lettuce, nectarines, peaches, peppers, squash, tomatoes, and watermelon,” stated a release.
