Are you a student that wants to get involved? The Prince William County School Board is looking for a student representative and two alternates.
According to a release, the representative would be providing school board members with non-voting input and insight.
The board is looking for students that are willing to follow the board’s Code of Ethics and Robert’s Rules of Order, review and read prepared agenda packets prior to the meeting, solicit ideas and concerns from Prince William students, attend meetings and offer a student voice, and communicate with students about reports and decisions made by the school board, stated a release.
Interested students must submit their application by June 14.

PWCS student living in the county
Rising junior or senior
Minimum 2.5 GPA, with no failing grades in current semester
May not be related to a sitting School Board member or member of PWCS senior leadership staff
Completion of application packet, essay, and interview
Commitment to attend open meetings of the School Board
Signed acknowledgement by parent(s) for approval and support of commitment
Once students complete an application, finalists will complete a proctored essay and an interview before being chosen.

Interested students obtain application information online or at their school (May 30-June 14, 2017)
Applications are submitted online or delivered to PWCS Central Office, 14715 Bristow Road, Manassas, VA, (by June 15, 2017)
School-based Selection Committee reviews “blind” completed applications–with identifying student information removed–using established criteria
School-based Selection Committee submits two student recommendations to school designee (No later than September 1, 2017)
School designee contacts the top two candidates and notified them of “proctored” essay date
Proctored essay administered (September 12, 2017)
Students submit completed consent page, and signed (by parents and student), at the proctored essay
School designee submits the two recommendations and essay results to the Division (No later than September 15, 2017)
Candidates notified of interview date and time (September 19, 2017)
Division Selection Committee conducts interviews (October 3-6, 2017)
Division Selection Committee submits the Student Representative to the School Board and the two alternates to the Superintendent’s Office (October 10, 2017)
Students introduced at School Board meeting (October 18, 2017)
