Members of the Prince William County Republican Committee and Congressman Rob Wittman donated cold-weather supplies to be given to the homeless in Woodbridge.
According to a release, more than a dozen bags of clothes, coats, and blankets, and six propane tanks were delivered by the committee to Streetlight Ministries – a non-profit in the community that assists the unsheltered homeless in Prince William.
“In a County as affluent as ours, it’s sometimes easy to forget that there are many people who are struggling to make it. Our local social workers and charities do a good job of working with the homeless and our neighbors in need to develop a plan towards employment and upward mobility. Some people face numerous barriers, so it’s beneficial for the community to walk alongside them towards self-sufficiency,” stated Prince William County Republican Committee Vice Chair DJ Jordan in a release.
Each year the committee completes ten service projects in the community.
“Prince William Republicans are grateful to be able to serve the community throughout the year through various service projects and activities. Our school supply drive, winter collection for the homeless, and other service projects are a great way for us to leverage private sector resources to help our neighbors in need,” stated Prince William County Republican Committee Chairwoman Dottie Miller in a release.
