The Prince William County Police Department is hosting a “Cover-the-Cruiser” event to help individuals in the upcoming Special Olympics.
According to a release, the Prince William police are hosting the event on August 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wawa on Route 29 at 14461 Lee Highway in Gainesville.
“There will be two marked cruisers, with uniformed officers, accepting donations on behalf of Special Olympics. If you wish to donate, you may write your name or a loved one’s name on a Law Enforcement Torch Run flyer and place the flyer on our cruiser with the goal of covering the entire cruiser,” stated a release.
The department’s goal is to raise awareness and donate the funds raised to the Special Olympics athletes.
