There’s a new Transportation Director for Prince William County.
Following a nationwide search, the county hired one of their own – Ricardo Canizales, according to a release.
According to a release, Canizales has worked for the Prince William County Department of Transportation for 14 years, most recently as the Transportation Planning Division Chief “where he was responsible for the management and operation of the Transportation Planning and Programming Division.”
Prior to working for the county, Canizales worked for the Virginia Department of Transportation and Richmond Regional Planning District Commission, stated a release. Canizales has a Bachelor’s in Urban Studies, and a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University, stated a release.
Rick Canizales’ experience with planning, programming and funding transportation projects along with his relationships with regional, state and federal partners will be essential as we continue to improve the transportation and commuting options for the residents of Prince William County,” stated Prince William Board of County Supervisors Chairman Corey Stewart in a release.
Canizales lives in Prince William with his wife and two children, stated a release.
“Prince William County is my home, and I’m excited to continue working on the transportation facilities and multimodal systems needed to serve and support our community,” stated Canizales in a release.
