Several Prince William educators will be honored for their service to the community in an upcoming ceremony.
According to a release, 29 teachers have been nominated for the Prince William County Schools’ (PWCS) Teacher of the Year award, and two principals have been nominated for the PWCS Principal of the Year award.
The nominees and winners will be recognized at a ceremony on January 30 at 6 p.m. at Colgan High School in Manassas.

Teacher packets will be evaluated based on award criteria including the teacher’s ability to instill in students a desire to learn and achieve; understand the individual needs of students; and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of subject matter, and have the ability to share it effectively with students.
Criteria for selection of the Principal of the Year include ability to manage effectively, demonstrate and encourage creativity and innovation, foster cooperation between the school and the community, encourage team spirit, demonstrate leadership and exemplify commitment, and continue to play an active role in the classroom.
