The Prince William County Democratic Committee (PWCDC) worked together to provide a food donation for children through The Good News Community Kitchen (TGNCK).
According to a release, members of the committee collected food items to make “food kits” for children with food insecurity at home, that they can take with them to ensure they have food access on the weekends.
“Each kit consists of a box of flavored oatmeal, saltine crackers, Chefboyardee, soup and a container of peanut butter. The items are interchangeable, fulfilling and only require water as an additive,” stated TGNCK Executive Director Mercedes Kirkland-Doyle in a release.
TGNCK is currently working to create and donate 300 kits that can be given to students in Prince William County Schools.
“Through our core values: outreach, compassion, unity and selfless-service, Prince William County residents and the Prince William County Democratic Committee came together, to raise supplies and package 700 dry goods items into 100 Meals 2 Go kits for our first school,” stated Kirkland-Doyle in a release.
PWCDC raised $130 and collected 100 cans of soup and Chefboyardee, 25 boxes of crackers, 24 jars of peanut butter, and 24 boxes of oatmeal, according to a release.
