The Prince William Conservation Alliance is hosting a Nokesville ‘Christmas Bird Count’ on December 26.
The bird count will begin at 7 a.m., according to a release, and survey teams will meet and take note of the birds they see in their area.
A larger Christmas bird count is being hosted by the National Audubon Society, and the Prince William Conservation Alliance is sponsoring the Nokesville piece within a 15-mile diameter of Merrimac Farm, according to a release.
Here are the ways you can help, according to a release:
Join a survey team to identify and count birds in the field (beginning birders welcome).
Identify and count birds in your backyard (if you live in the Nokesville Circle boundaries)
Prepare and/or serve food to hungry birders at the Merrimac Farm Stone House.
RSVP required to alliance@ pwconserve.org, 703.499.4954.
“This is a great opportunity to meet the remarkable variety of birds that spend the winter in Northern Virginia. Please join us for a fun, rewarding day and be a part of the oldest and largest citizen science project in the world,” stated a release.
