Poisons aren’t limited to nature.
They’re also in products and medicines that can be found in many homes.
Centers and organizations nationwide are raising awareness about poisonings.
Poisonings are the number one reason behind injury-related deaths in the United States, according to a release. Most aren’t intended and can happen when parents or guardians are sidetracked.
The Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue (PWCDFR) is reminding citizens to remain watchful.
Poisonings can be avoided by using child-resistant bottles and placing medication in an area where kids can’t reach it.
Household products should be kept in their original containers and shouldn’t be mixed with one another.
County residents are also encouraged to install carbon monoxide alarms in their homes.
More information about poison prevention is available on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website, and the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) website.
